Notable changes to the Rebase Platform and Rebase Toolkit.

This page tracks notable changes to rebase-toolkit and the platform features they use. The full release notes live in the toolkit's CHANGELOG.md.

PyPI carries releases up to 0.8.1. Install from GitHub to get the latest:

uv pip install "rebase-toolkit @ git+https://github.com/rebase-energy/rebase-toolkit.git"

Unreleased (on GitHub master)

  • Hosted hillclimb searches. rebase hillclimb start runs the engine on the platform as a long-running Cloud Run job, with --parallel-searches, --parallel-operators, --policy and --claude-secret. See Hillclimb.
  • rebase hillclimb watch | chart | tree | graph [RUN_ID] open the engine's TUIs on a live mirror of a hosted search, and rebase hillclimb logs prints its engine logs.
  • Stop and start projects and functions. rebase project pause | resume and rebase function pause | resume, plus x in the TUI. A function pause survives deploys.
  • Skipped scheduled fires leave a trace. rebase workflow schedule show reports last_skipped_at and last_skip_reason.
  • Log lines know their step, and a failed run's summary ends with the measurement behind the diagnosis.
  • The projects table in the TUI shows a day of run history per project.

0.9.0 — 2026-09-09

  • rb.Cron(start=, end=) declares a schedule window in code. Fires outside [start, end) are skipped, and rebase workflow schedule set takes --start and --end. See Scheduling.

0.8.1 — 2026-09-08

  • Function.remote() returns what the function returned, including non-dict values.
  • A function that raises reports its exception in error, with failure_reason.code = "function_exception" and the traceback in rebase run logs.
  • buckets= reaches function runs, including ephemeral rebase run.
  • The platform's service-account credential no longer expires mid-call.

0.8.0 — 2026-09-08

  • rb.workflow(timeout_seconds=) bounds a whole run, and step timeouts and retries are enforced. A run that hits its bound fails with step_timeout or run_timeout.
  • Manual and rebase run workflow runs receive their secrets=, not only scheduled fires.
  • The workspace timeout quota is split into --max-run-timeout-seconds for service requests and --max-job-timeout-seconds for job workflows.

0.7.0 — 2026-09-06

  • Execution is configured with mode and isolation, replacing the old run types.
  • Run lists are summaries. Client.list_runs and rebase run list leave out result and parameter bodies unless you ask for them with include.
  • rb.Bucket object storage, rb.artifact(...) durable outputs, and rb.current_run().
  • First-class environments and rebase init [WORKSPACE] repository markers.
  • Job workflows can size their container with cpu= and memory=.
  • rebase admin, a superadmin TUI over every workspace.
  • Many TUI improvements: workspace switcher, graph pane (i), run history bars, automatic refresh, one timeline per run, short flags for every CLI option, and -h for help.

0.6.1 — 2026-08-07

  • rebase-toolkit[hillclimb] installs the published hillclimb 0.2 release with emflow 0.3.1.
  • rebase-toolkit[all] excludes Snowflake, whose pandas constraint conflicts with hillclimb.

0.6.0 — 2026-07-07

  • GitLab integration. rebase connect gitlab connects gitlab.com or self-managed repositories with an access token stored in Secret Manager. See GitLab.

0.5.0 — 2026-07-07

  • Canonical energy layout for BigQuery with point-in-time reads. See Data warehouses.

0.4.0 — 2026-07-07

  • Per-function cpu= and memory= on functions and models.

0.3.0 — 2026-07-07

  • Secrets. rebase.Secret bundles and the rebase secret CLI.
  • env= and secrets= on functions and models.
  • rebase.sources warehouse connectors for Snowflake, Databricks, BigQuery and Microsoft Fabric. See Data warehouses.
